Building a business takes courage. Founders deserve time, experience and an independent perspective. Because we charge them nothing, our advice is guided by what helps their business, with no fee to earn or service to sell.
York Angels is a Community Interest Company (CIC). We invest in startups based in York and the surrounding area, with ambitions to reach markets around the world. Our roots are local; our outlook is global. We deliberately leave money on the table: no fees for startups and no carried interest for York Angels. Those choices help us stay objective and focused on what is useful to the founder, whether or not an investment follows.

Born in York and fuelled by a passion for competitive fitness, ROXFIT was launched in 2024 by long-time friends Ben Wilson and Joey Allott.

Agritech
Fairfield Vision
Modelling crops from plant, to farm, to planet.
Fairfield Vision supports farmers in promoting sustainable agriculture and reducing waste. By integrating AI from individual plants to the national scale, the team aims to reduce costs, pesticide use, habitat loss, and carbon footprint.
After work applying computer vision to detect disease in cocoa trees, the team combined expertise in agriculture, computer vision and AI to develop and deploy HiveSight.
